The concepts and principles that guide Permaculture are often practiced in the act of gardening, both rural and urban. That is, gardening is often how we learn Permaculture, by observing natural processes in the garden. Thus, Permaculture is a process of becoming closer to nature, which means it is based on observing abundance. Think of how abundant a dandelion or a lettuce or a fruit tree is—one individual producing hundreds of offspring. Permaculture helps us experience the world as an abundant place, rather than than a place in which the first thought is to take. To experience ourselves as able to heal and help the earth, rather than needing to take, and only take. Permaculture helps us unplug from the world of extraction and step into a world of balance and mutual respect with nature.
Permaculture helps us remember that we are capable of being healing forces for the planet.
