Yupaichani Organic Land Collective

Our purpose:  Yupaichani means “thank you Pachamama, which includes Earth, Sky and all the beings” in the Quechua language. Our purpose is to create a replicable sustainable model of preserving corridors of land that integrate human settlement and organic regenerative agriculture. To enhance mutual respect and interconnection between the people, the land and all the living beings on the land within the framework of a productive farm.  To create a model of humans and nature living in symbiosis. To create a living demonstration of a balanced agro-ecosystem.

Forming a small land-based cooperative with consensus decision-making, with these goals:

Making ongoing choices to help heal ourselves and heal the land.

Supporting local and organic agriculture, Permaculture, healing arts, and arts as healing--all this as an education center and place where people can come and learn in many different ways such as workshops, internships and volunteer positions.

Practicing social structures of mutual respect.

Seeking new economic models that do not involve exploitation of land and/or people.

Making choices to enhance ecological balance, social justice and spiritual fulfillment for those directly involved in our project, and beyond.

Encouraging profit-sharing, employee-owned business, employee-initiated businesses, and diverse forms of collaboration as found in cottage industry.

Finding ways to move away from labor being bought and sold.

For our first model project adjacent to Finca Vida Verde in San Jose de Vilcabamba, we envision:

Bio-construction model housing for four bioconstruction dwellings suitable for long-term residence.

A  Community House for short term occupancy on a time-share or rental basis

All buildings not to exceed 25% of the square meters of the property.

Minimum of 20% of land planted in native tree species.

Integrating this model into our vision for reforestation for Vilcabamba Valley, and beyond.

The organizational structure will support us in these ways:

Now that we have realized the purchase of the property, we plan to form a business as an Eco-Arts Center, which will hold the deed to the property. This will make it possible for people to join the project at differing levels of investment as business share-holders. As a share-holder company, we will have the fluidity to allow people to join the project as homeowners or investors, and also to sell their “parcel”, whether it be a home, or shares, at current market value, if they choose. New homeowners would join upon consensual agreement with all other current land partners .

· Our association with existing foundations will help us qualify for grant funding.
